Jensen effect on black-white differences and GPA controlling for parental SES (NLSY97 SPSS syntax)

Read the corresponding article here. As a reminder, it must be said that ASVAB subtests variables are composed of positive and negative scores. They must be summed together, but before doing this, the negative variables must be reversed (multiply the variable by -1) so that they can be summed correctly. With regard to the GPA variables, rather than entering the syntax ‘lowest thru highest’ I entered ’0 thru highest’ for the simple reason that negative values in GPA variables were in fact missing cases and they need to excluded when computing the new variable. After this, I regress out age and gender on these GPA variables and then rename the residuals as GPA_age_sex by specifying ‘lowest thru highest’ which should not pose a problem since the variables had their negative values already removed by previous manipulations.
