A lot of recoding was necessary because most variables are badly constructed. They did not remove properly the missing values. This aside, I would not recommend running the entire syntax in one shot, especially when the data file is more than 900 MO, which will cause the computer to slow down terribly. Normally, it would take more than 30 minutes to load the output.

For the RACE variable, the “value labels” line will not work because of quotation marks. If the syntax is copy pasted from this blog, the quotation marks in SPSS look like the first line in the picture below while the compatible parentheses are shown in the second line. But even so, the variable will be created (without labels for the values).
